Rotherfield Sign Off Season with Composed Win Over Reigate Priory

Rotherfield rounded off their Mid Sussex Football League Premier Division campaign with a controlled and disciplined performance in warm conditions, securing a deserved victory over Reigate Priory.

The hosts made a bright start and wasted little time asserting themselves. Just five minutes in, Connor Morrow showcased his quality, keeping possession well before unleashing an audacious effort from outside the area that looped over the goalkeeper to open the scoring.

Morrow remained at the heart of everything positive, and only two minutes later he was involved again—this time nodding the ball into the path of Sincs, who drove forward with intent and calmly dispatched his finish beyond the keeper to double the lead inside seven minutes.

Rotherfield continued to press, with Morrow again threatening midway through the half, breaking through and forcing a strong save from the Reigate keeper. From the resulting pressure, a corner was delivered shortly after, falling to Jack Turner, whose volley unfortunately sailed over the bar.

The third goal came in the 25th minute following a well-worked move. Dan Gray delivered an inviting cross from the left, which Sincs controlled expertly on his chest before being shoved in the back—leaving the referee with no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Sam Saunders stepped up confidently and converted to extend Rotherfield’s advantage.

The second half proved to be a more scrappy and hot-tempered affair, with fewer clear-cut chances as both sides battled the heat and rising tensions. Despite this, Rotherfield still looked the more dangerous side. Around the 75-minute mark, a flurry of attacking intent saw Dan Gray, Oscar Furman, and Sean Bristow all go close in quick succession, each denied as they searched to add a fourth.

Reigate Priory’s best opportunity came late on, forcing Gurney into a strong save to maintain the clean sheet. Moments before full time, the visitors had one final chance on the break but dragged their effort wide, summing up a frustrating afternoon for them.

In the end, it was a professional and composed display from Rotherfield, capping off their season on a high note with a well-earned win.
