Rotherfield travelled to face Cuckfield Rangers in the Gray Hooper Holt LLP Premier Division on a heavy pitch in places, but the Greens adapted well to the tough surface.
The first half offered little in the way of clear chances, with both sides struggling to create openings. The teams went into the break level at 0–0.
Early in the second half, Rotherfield were awarded a free kick after a handball by a Cuckfield defender. Jack Spampanato stepped up but his effort sailed just over the bar.
The breakthrough came on 55 minutes. On his debut, Harry Brand played an excellent ball forward to Connor Morrow, who had only the keeper to beat. Morrow kept his composure and finished well to give the Greens a 0–1 lead.
With around 20 minutes remaining, Brand was involved again, delivering another superb forward pass to Dan Gray, but his shot drifted just wide of the far post.
Cuckfield enjoyed long spells of possession for the remainder of the match, but the Greens stood firm. With disciplined defending, bodies behind the ball and effective game management, Rotherfield rode out the pressure to secure a hard-fought 0–1 victory.
