Rotherfield Reserves maintained their good start to life in Division 2 South with a convincing win against the student medics.
On a lovely afternoon & with a pristine pitch it was a surprise when it was the young medics that started the quicker especially given they had a minimal warm up after a late arrival, with their kit the latest of all. A one nil lead after 10 minutes for the visitors ensued.
However the home side grew into the game, scoring a quick equaliser & then marching into a 4-1 half time lead with some top quality goals (2 from Lewis Bowen, 1 for Harry McInulty & 1 for young Jacob).
The second half saw Rotherfield get better especially in their defensive shape with skipper Rich Holman & Jack Birdsall anchoring the midfield superbly to take the pressure off the defence. This allowed full backs Archie Russell (back from his European Grand tour) & Will Sutton to show their quality, & it was a surprise that only one more goal was added with Bowen completing an excellent hat trick.
A strong three points to build confidence even with a large number of players not available.
